FPC client Brandon “Hotrod” Hempleman takes home the win at WSOF 12
Courtesy of MMA Junkie: In a key bantamweight contest, Brandon Hempleman (10-2) staved off the wrestling of Alexis Vila (14-5) in a few early exchanges and then battled back with crisp, aggressive kickboxing, to score a unanimous-decision win.
Vila missed on a few takedown attempts in the early going, but he quickly found success with a pair of overhands that landed flush. At that point, Vila seemed content to box for the remainder of the frame, and while he had success with powerful shots, Hempleman also found moments with a few well-placed punches and kicks of his own.
The action stayed busy in the second, as Hempleman picked up the pace with his kickboxing attack but Vila remained quick and looked to counter, as well. Both refused to back down, and they traded toe-to-toe for the entirety of the round.
Vila finally seemed to slow a bit in the third, as an overhand landed to the temple and staggered him briefly. A Hempleman low kick to the cup gave Vila a brief rest, as well, but on the restart, it was Hempleman who seemed just a slight step ahead, and he was awarded a decision victory.
